Welcome to Kate Tiler, a historic demonstrator of Medieval tile making, as well as my work as a community artist and teacher, as Karen Slade.

I first made medieval tiles in the summer of 1996, and every year I learn something new. Sometimes when talking to visitors at events, at times when I'm researching at an archive, often when I'm focused on carving wood pattern blocks and using them to make tiles.
